Hello Sher Team,
We live in New York City and are considering importing our frozen oocytes and embryos from Instituto Bernabeu (Alicante, Spain) to your clinic, to fertilize them with Julian's frozen sperm. Before booking a consultation, we would be grateful for answers to the questions below.
Our situation:
- Nikki Teran: vitrified oocytes stored at Instituto Bernabeu (approximately 24).
- 3 euploid (PGT-A tested) blastocysts also stored there
- Julian Wise: frozen sperm stored in the US at Sppare. Julian is transgender and has had a vasectomy; testicular biopsy is a fallback if needed (but much less desired, as it would require Julian to cease his hormone replacement therapy to produce sperm. Also, previous biopsy produced low yield and low fertilization rate).
- We hope for a large family (6 kids) and split our time between NYC and Reno, NV.
Our questions:
1. Will you accept vitrified oocytes (and possibly embryos) imported from Spain? What do you require from Instituto Bernabeu, which courier do you use, and what does intake cost?
2. Would you fertilize all of the oocytes by ICSI with Julian's frozen sperm from Sppare?
3. Will you perform double transfers of euploid embryos at our request? We would need this confirmed in writing, along with any conditions.
4. After a birth (vaginal or a cesarean delivery), how long do you require before the next embryo transfer?
5. Can your lab warm oocytes vitrified at Instituto Bernabeu, and what survival rates do you see with oocytes from other clinics?
6. What are the costs for storage, warming + ICSI + culture, PGT-A, and each frozen embryo transfer?
7. What is a realistic timeline from first consultation to fertilization?
8. How will Julian's name and gender be recorded in records and consent forms?

A: YES!...we will discuss this later.

A: Yes

A: Very likely this would not be a problem
4. After a birth (vaginal or a cesarean delivery), how long do you require before the next embryo transfer?
A: About 3-4 months
5. Can your lab warm oocytes vitrified at Instituto Bernabeu, and what survival rates do you see with oocytes from other clinics?
A: YES: Survival will depend on the method used to freeze and the competency of the Lab in doing so.
6. What are the costs for storage, warming + ICSI + culture, PGT-A, and each frozen embryo transfer?
A: I cannot tell you with certainty, but I can put you in touch with management at SFS and theyb will give you precise info
7. What is a realistic timeline from first consultation to fertilization?
A: About 6-8 weeks
8. How will Julian's name and gender be recorded in records and consent forms?
